What is a Start Assist Kit, and What does it do? Well, your Air Conditioning system is driven by a compressor. It’s that noisy thing sitting inside the outdoor unit. When the thermostat recognizes a need for the Air conditioner to come on and start to cool your home, it tells the compressor to wake up and start working. Every time the thermostat calls for more cold air, it incrementally causes more stress on the compressor. Over time, this stress builds up and takes its toll on the equipment, causing it to become less reliable, less efficient, or break down completely.
So what is the solution? Well, a Start Assist kit will do wonders. A Start assist kit helps give the compressor an extra boost when starting up to help relieve some of the stress from hard start-ups. The kit also helps get it up to speed quicker which means the unit is going to start cooling faster. By taking the stress off the compressor, it will make your system more efficient.
Start Assist kits are recommended for systems five years or older, however, every system would benefit from using one.
